OK so I'm playing kickball in P.E and today the stupidest thing happened. Before I start there is one rule that is important to the story it is that when they get the ball to the pitcher you can't run. So we're in the bottom of the 5th or so inning (It turned out to be the last inning) My team is down 3-1 and we have runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs. The kid on my team who is kicking kicks the ball through the first basemen s legs the runners advance but the kicker runs to 2nd so the other runners have to advance so the other team tries to peg the runner at 3rd but they miss so she scores. the runner from 2nd is starting to run home just as the pitcher gets the ball. Here comes the stupid part. The pitcher throws the ball at the runner and he misses so the runner scores then the person who kicked it comes around to score because the ball went so far away but the teacher who was the umpire said she had to go back to 2nd because the pitcher had the ball. I just don't get it because the pitcher threw the ball after he got it. What do you think?

thatz not fair!
It does sound a bit unfair.. but I can't really comment since I wasn't there and I don't know what the teacher was thinking when they made that call. Was it Mr. Irwin?
The thing about PE sports is that things won't always be fair. I think the PE teacher's main objective is to just get kids moving and hope that they learn something about a physical activity.
It's just like at recess or out at the park just playing around. It's not really an organized activity and the rules will never be entirely 'fair' or correct.
Steven,
Being a grown adult, as I am, I'm forced to have to agree with yor mom and Aunt Cyn...HOWEVER....your PE teacher is DEAD WRONG! Once the pitcher decided to attempt to throw the runner out, the pitcher was no longer in possession of the ball, by his/her own choosing. Therefore, the runner can run.
The concensus in our house mirrors Jack's, just with a few more exclaimation points! The boys are all screaming FOUL!
I hate it when stuff like that happens.
Mimi
xxoo
I have to agree with Mimi. Once the pitcher released the ball, the runner should be allowed to run.
Im with jack
